I just wanted to take a few moments to share with our members some exciting news from the International Hearing Society that impacts all of us in the profession.
It was recently announced by IHS that they would be combining forces with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology to bring a single national conference called Unison Hearing Health Global Summit together in Chicago in 2016. This was a HUGE accomplishment for both organizations and our profession. We know that with the number of baby boomers turning 65 every day that our industry is slated to go through unprecedented growth during the next decade. This growth could be both GOOD or BAD for our profession should we not maintain strong professional alliances whose goals are to champion both the needs of our consumers and providers.
As most of you know, the Michigan Alliance of Hearing Care Professionals and the Michigan Academy of Audiology recently cooperated in joint talks with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. We believe it is cooperation of this nature, along with a strong IHS and ADA, that is critical to ensuring the dispensing profession's future.
The Hearing Review wrote an article about this historical endeavor here.
