Speakers

John Hoglund BC-HIS,ACA,TCP

John is Nationally Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences and is also certified by the American Conference of Audioprosthology. John has been taking care of the needs of the hearing impaired throughout Florida since 1985 and served on the Florida Society of Hearing Healthcare Professionals (FSHHP) Board for 14 years. He and his wife Patricia owned Hearing Centers throughout Southwest Florida including Southwest Florida Tinnitus and Hearing Center which opened in 2010 to specifically address the needs of Tinnitus sufferers in their community. John worked with Dr. Richard Tyler and the other members of the task force to develop the curriculum and examination now used in the IHS Tinnitus Care Provider course. John, Patricia, and 6 other Audiologists and Hearing Instrument Specialists they employed attended the very first TCP class in Orlando Florida in 2017, which expanded the services to Tinnitus Patients through each of their four clinics. John has written multiple articles for about Tinnitus care for The Hearing Professional and many other health publications.

 

Carrie Meyer, AuD

Carrie Meyer, Au.D., is Director of Clinical Programs for Amplifon Hearing Healthcare. Dr. Meyer is an audiologist with over 35 years of clinical experience in diagnostic assessment of hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance dysfunction as well as hearing aid evaluation, fitting, and verification. In her role as Director of Clinical Programs, Dr. Meyer works with providers, health plans and members to optimize member hearing health outcomes by improving clinical care pathways through provider innovation, member education, and health plan support. Dr. Meyer is Chair of the American Board of Audiology and a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology as well as the Academy of Doctors of Audiology. Dr. Meyer is a member of the Concordia University St. Paul Board of Regents and chairs the Academic Committee.

 

Amanda Sines

Amanda has been involved in state government relations in Columbus, Ohio for nearly 20 years. Amanda began her lobbying career working for one of the first female owned independent lobbying firms where she represented a variety of client interests before the state legislature and Ohio regulatory agencies. In 201,5 soon after Ms. Towner’s retirement, Amanda joined Government Advantage Group as a Partner.  Amanda is a Past President of the Ohio Lobbying Association, is a member of the fundraising committee for the Ohio YMCA Youth in Government program and an active member in Ohio Women in Government.

 

Richard N. Whitney, MD, DABAM, FASAM

Richard N. Whitney, MD, serves as the Medical Director of the Ohio Professionals Health Program. This organization provides comprehensive assessment and referral services, as well as monitoring and advocacy, for healthcare professionals throughout Ohio who have been diagnosed with addictive disorders or other mental, emotional, behavioral and/or physical illnesses.
Previously, Dr. Whitney practiced Addiction Medicine at Shepherd Hill, the Behavioral Health Department of Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio and served as Medical Director of Addiction Services from 2001 until 2018. He is a frequent course instructor for the American Society of Addiction Medicine as well as a lecturer for a variety of professional and community organizations.
Dr. Whitney graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He then completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.
Following his of practice in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Whitney completed a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Charter Hospital of Dallas in 1991 and has practiced Addiction Medicine since that time. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
