CRITICAL CALL TO ACTION
UPDATE: The one regarding your license is on Page 173 (the last amendment). All current law is restored under this language! Retaining your license and no longer proposing moving to a registration. Thank you for all of your advocacy on this!
The Hearing Healthcare Alliance of Ohio is fighting a proposal on your behalf, and we need your help! The Ohio Senate this week brought forward a proposal as part of House Bill 509, that would move the hearing aid dealers and fitters license to a registration. This could have a devastating impact on your ability to practice.
Matt Starner was able to represent the profession before the Senate Workforce and Higher Education Committee on November 30th. Matt gave testimony on behalf of the Alliance and the International Hearing Society in opposition to move to a registration as opposed to a license.
While the Alliance is working on a broad strategy to fight this proposal, it is critically important that your Senator hear from you. Direct advocacy from constituents is always going to be impactful to elected officials.
We need you take a couple minutes out of your day to fight for the future of your profession and the Ohioans you help and serve. The Senate could pass this bill as soon as NEXT week, so you advocacy is needed quickly.
If you don’t know who your Senator is, you can find that here using your address. Please call or e-mail your Senator TODAY and ask them to oppose the provision in HB 509 that removes the license for hearing aid dealers and fitters.
If you need talking points on this issue, please refer to the Alliance’s testimony.
